Parent Power Helps Raise Awareness of DIY Treatment Worldwide
London, UK – 8 Auguast, 2005 - Jane Barker’s first child was ten weeks old when she heard of Ear Buddies (www.earbuddies.co.uk), a revolutionary DIY treatment that corrects ear deformities in newborns. The baby girl had been born with “Spock” ears, known by doctors as a Stahl’s bar, which would have been difficult, if not impossible, to correct surgically. Impressed by how much easier success was when the splints were fitted early, she wrote a piece for her local NCT magazine to raise awareness amongst her fellow mums. Now all Ear Buddies packs are sent out with at least two copies of the leaflet. A company spokesman said “A lot of our mums ask for multiple copies – for their GP, their midwife, their health visitor and friends at home and abroad.”
Ear Buddies are available over the Internet worldwide, but after a single brochure taken back home by a visiting South Korean father, a fifth of all Ear Buddies sold go to this country.
